The Shaukeens is an Indian comedy movie that is going to be released on 7th of November 2014. Abhishek Sharma is the director of this upcoming movie. Akshay Kumar is the main actor of The Shaukeens whereas the other actors include Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra, Annu Kapoor and Lisa Haydon. This film is the remaking of an old Indian movie named as “Shaukeen” that was released in 1982 and its director was Basu Chatterjee. Main actors of that film were Ashok Kumar, A.K. Hangal, Utpal Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri.
Partial shooting of The Shaukeens was carried out in Mauritius. In this film, special appearance has been given by two versatile and well known actors of Bollywood named as Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor. Michelle has also played role as special appearance in its song Meherbani. Story of the film revolved around three old men (Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra), who have decided to take the break for having fun in their lives. During their holiday, they met a pretty woman. For impressing her, they have started doing unusual things that just ended in funny and embarrassed situations.
Shooting of this movie was started on 25th of April 2014. Akshay Kumar has publicized the picture of the very first day of shooting on the social media. In that picture, actors were seen in the hotel room. After the initial shooting, next schedule of shooting was Mauritius in the month of June and the remained shooting was carried out in Delhi. Anupam Kher has started the shooting in Delhi.
At first, Nargis Fakhri was hired for this movie but later she left this film for another unidentified Hollywood movie. After her refusal, Shraddha Kapoor was offered the same role but she also refused and in the end Lisa Haydon was signed for playing that role. Akshay has played the role of Lisa’s Partner. That role was played by Mithun Chakraborty in the old 1982’s movie. Rati Agnihotri has played the role of cameo in the new movie whereas in the old movie she has played the leading role. Piyush Mishra is playing the comedian role for the first time.
The famous Indian singer Honey Singh was signed for singing one song of that movie. Honey has also previously sung the song for Akshay and when he requested to sing a rap song for The Shaukeens, Honey didn’t refuse but instead he offered to sing three songs. Team of this film also appeared on the popular Television show named as Comedy nights with Kapil and the main purpose of appearance was the promotion of film.
